SMP Racing junior drivers Nikita Bedrin and Kirill Smal took part in the karting tournament WSK Open Cup, which took place on October 25-27 in Lonato, Italy.
The young Russian kart drivers, having successfully passed the qualifying races and driving the best time in the pre-final races, had a great fight for a victory on the track and finished in the top three karting drivers among rivals from around the world.
SMP Racing junior driver Kirill Smal kept the lead during the whole tournament. In three qualifying rounds he twice was second and once first fastest, and that ensured him a start from first position in the Prefinal A. In the final race, Kirill started third, managed to gain one position and finished second.
13-year-old Nikita Bedrin led the entire race in the OK-Junior class, but his closest rival Antonelli managed to overtake him in the final lap. At the last turn, the Russian driver got squeezed between two other rivals and had his bumper broken. The SMP Racing junior driver crossed the finish line third.
