After several successful attacks, Robert took the lead on the eighth lap of the race and kept first position to the finish line.
Robert Shwartzman keeps the lead in the FIA Formula 3 Championship drivers’ standings: he has scored 70 points during two rounds of the championship and is 12 ahead of his nearest pursuer, his team-mate Jehan Daruvala.
“The race went very well,” SMP Racing driver Robert Shwartzman said. “Initially, our plan was to start well and gradually break through, the task was just to reach the podium. I had a successful start, moved up to fifth place and then began to overtake rivals ahead. And when at some point I was third, I realized that my speed was much faster than the others. Therefore, I decided to not waste time, and I made a rather dangerous attack as my rival Alex Peroni drove literally inches from my car. I had to turn away so as not to drive into him, but everything worked out. Then I was driving side by side with Yuki Tsunoda, found myself on the inside, and due to this I won back the position and took the lead. Then, my task was to drive steadily and build a gap from the others, and I achieved it. I want to say thank you to the team that changed the settings for this race, and they worked perfectly as our result confirms it. I want to thank SMP Racing and my fans for the support - for me it is very important. "
The third round of FIA Formula 3 will take place on June 28-30 in Austria at the Red Bull Ring.
