On June 1-2, SMP Racing  junior driver Nikita Bedrin took part in the third round of the FIA Karting European Championship in the OK-Junior class at the Swedish Kristianstad.

In the qualifying session, Nikita was classified sixth, which ensured him a start from second place in each of the five qualifying heats. Bedrin won four of them and finished sixth in the last one due to a breakdown of the ignition.

In the final race, Nikita started from second position, overtook the rival and took the lead, but due to problems with the tyres, he lost to other drivers and finished fourth.

"From the very beginning of the round we had a good speed and managed to win in four qualifying heats," Nikita Bedrin said. "In the finals, I also had a chance to fight for the victory. At the very beginning of the race I managed to overtake the rival and even built a gap from him, but a faulty set of tyres ruined our plans. As the tyre was wearing out, the difference between the normal set and the one we got became very meaningful. As a result, I couldn't fully compete with rivals, but still was able to finish fourth.”
The fourth round of the European Karting Championship take place on July 18-21 at the Le Mans circuit, France.
