SMP Racing driver Dmitry Samorukov is the first Russian to take part in the prestigious FIA European Drag Racing Championship.

Dmitry will drive the Pro Modified car, styled as a Chevrolet Camaro 1968. The MaxRide Motorsport team (Russia) led by Swedish engineer Adam Flemholz will maintain the 4000 HP car.

It is an honour to be the first Russian to represent our country and our SMP Racing program in this European competition, Dmitry Samorukov said. Although most of our rivals have been taking part in this competition for years, we are confident that we will be able to compete with them - we have a great team, a great car and a great desire to fight and win.

As a part of the preparations for the championship, Dmitry tested a new car at Bradenton Motorsports Park, where he set a new personal record, driving 1/4 miles in 5.994 seconds with a final speed of 373 km/h.

Since 2014, Dmitry Samorukov has been taking part in the Russian Drag Racing Championship SMP RDRC, where he has repeatedly set records of Russia. Thus, in the 2018 season, Dmitry overcame 402 meters in 6.305 seconds driving a Dodge Viper ProMod with a maximum speed of 366.41 km/h on the finish line. In 2019, simultaneously with the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, Dmitry Samorukov will continue to compete in this Russian championship.
