SMP Racing junior driver Kirill Smal took second place in the OK class of the WSK Champions Cup competition, which took place on January 23-26 at the Italian Adria go-kart track.
In the first karting tournament of the new year, Smal from the very beginning confidently stayed in the top five and twice qualified second-fastest during the practice sessions. Kirill won one of the qualifying races, and in the prefinal he was fourth fastest. In the final, he overtook his rivals ahead and finished the race in second place.“In the final race I started from eighth position and it took me a few laps to break through overtaking a dense group of rivals,” Kirill Smal said. “Then I quickly moved three more places up and was close to the first three. On the penultimate lap, I took third position, and by the end of the race I even managed to cross the finish line second. It's nice to start the season this way. ”
