SMP Racing driver Vitaly Petrov will participate in the second round of the Russian Rally Championship on February 8-9 in the Tver region.
As at the first round in Karelia, Vitaly will race together with the co-driver Dmitry Yakovchenko, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 9 car of the PRO-Sport Rally team. The crew is announced by SMP Racing and will drive the number 9 car.There are two days of the rally Peno: Friday is the preparatory day, when the team creates pace notes of the track; Saturday is the main, competitive day. The rally distance includes six special stages with a total length of 124.22 kilometers.
“I am in a great mood because I’m going to take part the winter race again, in the second round of the Russian Rally Championship in Peno,” Vitaly Petrov said. “I have never been here before and I still don’t know what the track is, although I’ve looked for some information on the Internet. On Thursday, we will have tests, on Friday I will create pace notes, and get familiar with the special stages. Together with the PRO-Sport Rally team we have analyzed our work during the first round of the competition and have decided that the next time we need to add some details to our pace notes. All the rest, in my opinion, was fine. I want to say a special thank you to SMP Racing, which gives me an opportunity me to participate in such competitions. I will be waiting for all my fans on Saturday come to the rally in Peno."
Vitaly Petrov made his debut in the Russian Rally Championship at the first round in Karelia on January 25-26, 2019. Vitaly Petrov and his co-driver Dmitry Yakovchenko took fourth place in class N4 and thirteenth place in the overall standings, while SMP Racing became the second in the team standings.
